Let’s begin a 30 Days of Writing challenge, a creative prompt series I discovered on Pinterest. The idea is simple: each day, you write on a new topic to refine your writing skills and spark fresh insights. As the days progress, I will share this process with you, giving you a glimpse into my world along the way. So, let’s begin with Day 2: Things that make you happy.
When we think about happiness, we are often convinced that it resides in those grandiose things we are so desperately trying to achieve—graduating university, getting a great job, being in a relationship, going on fancy vacations, and pampering ourselves with all the luxuries we can imagine.
Up until some point in my life, I used to believe this too. I had to experience, however, what it was like to climb that mountain myself in order to understand that what I really wanted all along was to dive in the ocean.
Though the view was spectacular, once I realized what I had known deep in my heart all along, I had to leave.
“Where are you going?”
“I don’t know.” I replied and they seemed even more confused.
“Look around—are you really leaving this place? There isn’t any higher where you could get.”
“You know, I guess that’s the thing. I don’t want to go any higher; I want to go deeper.”
I looked at their faces one last time before saying goodbye. Walking down the hill, I had no exact destination, but I knew my heart would guide me if I dared to listen. As I have been walking this way, I have been feeling myself drawn toward a deeper purpose—something meaningful—no longer pushing myself as I had before, but following a quiet pull from within.
So that’s what I’ve been doing—paying attention to all the magic around me, finding beauty in the ordinary, putting my time and energy into what truly matters—simple walks, quiet moments of stillness, and a state of flow while working on my projects. After years of feeling deeply unhappy, I finally know that I have moved onto the path that is truly mine.
